Worship at Lewis Center UMC
Sunday morning worship services are at 8:30 and 10:00 AM. Our summer schedule takes us outside for the 8:30, with a shortened, casual service with communion under the trees, for those wanting to worship and still hit the dock or the links! In case of rain, we will just go inside for worship. 10:00 worship will be inside, with nursery and preschool Sunday School concurrent. K- elem students will begin worship with parents for the 1st half of worship and then go to a group activity. special music is planned for each 10:00 worship while the choirs take their summer break!
On entering our sanctuary, you will find the altar and cross are our main focal points. We preach Biblically based sermons with real-life application, and use a worship bulletin to guide us through the worship service. We offer two options for spoken and musical participation: hymnals with words and music in the pews, and words only projected on a screen.
Our services are warm, casual, and somewhat traditional with a variety of musical selections including gospel, praise songs, jazz, hymns of faith, solos, ensembles, handbells, and choirs. Tamara Halls, music director, is one of the most qualified in the area, and has a beautiful voice. And Jim Luellen, accompanist, is known around Columbus as the best jazz man around.
We are reaching contemporary people with primarily a traditionally oriented service. The pastors and choir members wear robes for worship, and strive to make Lewis Center UMC a place to be yourself and a place to grow in God's grace and love.
