Music and Arts
Welcome to Lewis Center UMC! We are glad you are here. I look forward to getting to know you better
as the months unfold. Please feel free to contact me directly if I can be of help to you or
encourage you further.
We invite you to become a part of our Music Ministry as we lift our praises to God! Music can minister to the soul when
the spoken word simply cannot. We have various opportunities in which you can participate.
MUSIC OPPORTUNITIES AT LEWIS CENTER
Tamara Hallas - Director of Music
GOAL: To encourage members to share their own particular musical gifts in praise of God through vocal and instrumental
offerings; enriching the worship experience of attendees and growing talents of those involved. Opportunities include
Chancel Choir, Adult Hand Bells and special vocal/instrumental solos and ensemble mixes.
Sanctuary Choir (adult choir)
Rehearsal on Wednesdays from 7:30p.m. - 9:00p.m.
When approaching Christmas in particular, our schedule modifies slightly.
September - May
What we accomplish: Chancel Choir aids in leading our worship services by
offering Choral Anthems, Introits, Amen Responses and various music specials each week for both worship services.
All singers are encouraged to come to practice and share their gifts of music with our congregation. Even if you
cannot make every practice every week - you are encouraged to join us when you can. This vibrant small group
works hard and enjoys their time together!! Like to sing? Give us a try! Why not join us Wed. evening for
practice? We are currently working on Fall and Christmas selections and welcome you!
JuBELLant Praise Ringers (adult hand bell choir)
Rehearsals on Wednesdays from 6:30p.m. - 7:45p.m.
Practices last approximately 1 - 1.25 hours
When approaching Christmas in particular, our schedule modifies slightly.
September - May
What we accomplish: Adult Hand Bells add to our worship by sharing anthems and selections during our worship services
every 4-6 weeks. We are now beginning our second year and expect our third octave of bells to arrive any day. You do
not need to have hand bell experience to join us for rehearsals. Please see me or any bell choir member with your
questions. We would welcome adding you to our ranks! We are growing and excited to share our
passion for music!
SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES TO SHARE YOUR MUSICAL GIFTS:
Other vocal and Instrumental opportunities are available for you to participate in as well. If you play an
instrument (or "used" to play one) or you like to sing in small group or solo settings, please speak with
me about the possibility of sharing your gifts with our congregation. I want you to have a format to be
involved and the opportunity to offer "your utmost for His highest".
Contact Tamara Hallas by Email
or call the church office at 740.548.5549 to discuss further information
in scheduling. Additionally, if you have experience playing the organ or piano and are interested in
contributing to our worship by sharing your talent - please let Tamara know.
We welcome your experience and contributions.
