2012 Lent Study
If you don’t fit the mold…If you’re tired of adjusting to other people’s definitions of spirituality…If traditional spiritual disciplines just aren’t working for you…If all the standard answers aren’t enough…but your deepest desire is to know God more, our Lenten worship and study series is for you!
We will study the book "Spirituality for the Rest of Us: A Down-to-earth Guide for Knowing God." We will meet from 7:00-8:30 p.m., on Tuesdays during Lent (Feb. 28, March 6, 13, 20, 27, and April 3). You may: 1. participate in the study and read the book; 2. read the book without participating in the study; or 3. participate in the study without reading the book. The deadline for ordering the books is Sunday, Feb. 5. The cost will be in the $12-15 range.

Dinners for 8 or 9
This social group helps people get to know one another and expand their circle of friends. Each quarter, people have the opportunity to sign up. Those who do are placed in a monthly dinner group of 8 or 9 people. One person/family is assigned to make plans for the first dinner (reservations at a restaurant or hosting in their home) and to contact their group of 8/9. At the first dinner, the other group members volunteer to make plans for the following months. Participants stay with their group for 3-4 months and then sign up to meet a new group of friends!
Empty Nesters
"Empty Nesters" is a social group at Lewis Center UMC, comprised of folks in the 50+ stage of life, who are more free to get out and do things as a group. You do not have to have children; your child may be an adult child still at home; you may be single or a couple; you may have a spouse, who is out of town much of the time, and need a safe place to enjoy fun activities. We go out to dinner/brunch, to plays and concerts, to ball games, and gather at various homes for holiday parties or to watch the Buckeyes, the Super Bowl, etc. It is a great opportunity to meet friends and get involved, if you are in the over-50 crowd!
Mom's Group
This is a group of young women, who desire to be good mothers, good wives, and good Christians. Their time together creates an environment, in which they can have time away from children and spouses in order to regroup and blossom. This is a "no guilt zone." They are not about comparing houses, cars, bank accounts, spouses, or perfect kids, and not about telling others what they need to work on. Rather they allow one another just to BE women on the journey together, finding balance in life and enlarging their circle of friends.
Prayer Room
Our Prayer Room (also the Library) is a quiet place to commune with God. It is open Wednesdays, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and anytime the church is open (Mon. & Thurs., 9 a.m.-5 p.m.) The wide window looks into the sanctuary at the cross and altar as a visual focal point. There is a kneeler as well as comfortable chairs. A variety of prayer guides are available. Small wooden crosses, which have been prayed over and blessed, are available for you to take with you to a doctor's appointment, interview, or other situation in which you want a tangible reminder of Christ's presence with you. You can pray anywhere, anytime, and this is one special spot you may choose.
United Methodist Women - Royina Circle
All women are invited to participate in this group. Once a month the women meet for fellowship, lunch, a Bible lesson, and discussion of their mission projects. This group organizes the Annual Turkey Dinner, the Christmas Cookie sale, and the fruit baskets for our shut-ins.
Men's Breakfast
All men are invited to breakfast at Frisch's Big Boy, on Rt. 23, north of I-270, every other Thursday, 8:00 a.m.
Library
New books are always being added to our church library. To check out an item, fill out the card in the back of the book and place the card in the "Take Out" box. To return an item, simply place it in the "Return" basket.
Emmaus Walk
An Emmaus Walk is a 72-hour spiritual retreat (Thursday evening through late Sunday afternoon). It is a time to step off the treadmill of life and come away for awhile to bask in God's unconditional love. The weekend is filled with spiritual insight, laughter, parties, food, and new friends!
